Nothing compares to the Mill, and Sylvia keeps adding to it’s beauty. The historic mill is other worldly with its gorgeous European ambiance and rare Parisian antiques. Sylvia is an aesthete at heart who has an uncompromising vision when it comes to gardening.
Perfect Harmony…A lush garden on the island of Maui mixes fine French antiques with tropical flowers and a passion for patina
It takes vision to turn a crumbling ruin into a dream wedding venue, and Sylvia Hamilton-Kerr has it in spades.
It’s an unusual scheme – Parisian flea market finds juxtaposed with Maui’s lush vegetation – but it works because the cultural influences are in perfect harmony.
I was determined to find something that would provide us with the privacy we craved, but beautiful enough to be a truly unique experience,” says Erica, the bride. “Haiku Mill was exactly what we were looking for: that fantasy, secret garden, other-world feel in the middle of a beautiful island.”
As soon as we saw this beautiful hideaway, I knew nothing else would be as perfect.” Located on Maui’s North Shore, the refurbished mill is a Hawaiian historical landmark and one of the first sugar mills built in 1853. “The mill has a secret garden feel that is so rare,” says Joelle. She could picture her wedding under a full moon with beautiful lighting and dozens of candles tucked among the stone nooks.
Haiku Mill is pleased to announce that they have been selected as a 2012 winner in The Knot Best of Weddings, the number-‐one wedding resource that’s most trusted by brides.
